Hello there!

I am Pieter, a 40-year-old illustrator and artist from Belgium who loves making drawings with a deeper, sometimes mysterious meaning.

I worked as a graphic designer until the pandemic. Surrounded by my three young kids, I started drawing and writing again, and my passion for it reignited. Luckily, it is here to stay.

Today I still work entirely analog, which feels like an antidote to all the screen time I had as a child and still sometimes struggle with. At least I don’t watch TV or play videogames anymore. I’m obsessed with books, especially old illustrated ones. I inherited a large collection of 19th-century books that already fascinated me throughout my childhood.

I didn’t have the easiest childhood, and I’ve always felt that I had to write a book about my life. Over the past three years, I’ve worked intensely on my personal growth: my self-confidence, my inner critic, my inner child and finding the courage to share my work on social media.

Since then, I’ve received two honorable mentions in international cartoon contests. More recently, some of my cartoons were published in a short story by Marc de Bel, Belgium’s most famous youth author.
